Day 1 — Hanoi
You will arrive at Hanoi Airport where you will be met and taken to your first hotel. Once you’re checked-in you’ll have time to explore the city at your leisure and develop your unique initial impressions of Vietnam. Food-loving travelers will relish this first chance to taste some authentic Vietnamese cuisine!
Day 2 — Hanoi and Halong Bay
At 08:00 you’ll be picked up from the hotel and taken on a three and a half hour drive to Halong City. During the drive you’ll be able to look out on the Vietnamese countryside and traditional rice paddy fields. You will then board an authentic Junk and begin an incredible cruise through the awe-inspiring Halong Bay, visiting some of the bay’s caves and being served a delicious lunch and dinner onboard. The boat will then anchor in a peaceful area where you will stay overnight. Take this chance to swim in the emerald water and fall asleep under the stars on the top deck.
Day 3 — Halong Bay and Hanoi
You’ll wake up early to enjoy an unbeatable sunrise and a breath of fresh ocean air. Breakfast will be followed by a leisurely cruise past seemingly countless islands, offering unbeatable photo opportunities. You’ll stop to see a floating fishing village and hear fascinating stories of the fishermen’s daily life. After lunch you will sail back to Halong city pier and head back to Hanoi.
Day 4 and 5 — Hanoi
On day four and five you will have the chance to explore the city of Hanoi at your leisure. During the booking process you can add a full day Hanoi City group Tour with a guide (for day four) which will pick you up from the hotel (at 08:00) take you to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Presidential Palace, the Temple of Literature, the site of Vietnam’s first University and many other places. This is also your chance to experience traditional Vietnamese culture with a trip to a local restaurant and a Water Puppet Show! On day 5 evening You will then catch a night train (sharing a four-person cabin) to the next stop on your trip: Hue City.
Day 6 and 7 — Hue
Your next few days will be spent in the historic city of Hue — the ancient imperial capital of Vietnam. The hotel is just a few minute walk to pretty Perfume River. On day six you can wander the city at your leisure, while on day seven you’ll be treated to a full day city tour. This will start at 08:00, when you will be picked up from your hotel and taken for a cruise on the Perfume River where you can appreciate the beauty of the city and the tranquil villages on the riverbank. Take some time to learn about the importance of Buddhism in Vietnam at the Thien Mu Pagoda. Then, in the afternoon, you’ll visit the Forbidden Purple City, an impressive walled fortress and palace.
Day 8 — Hue and Hoi An
In the morning you can choose to go on another spectacular Hue City Tour which will include a relaxing hour long cycle ride to Dong Ba market, as well as a visit to the popular Royal Tombs. After this it will be the best time to make the three and a half hour transfer to Hoi An. There is fantastic sightseeing en route and you may stop to see Lang Co Beach, Hai Van Pass and the Marble Mountains if time permits. You’ll arrive at the coastal city of Hội An in the evening.
Day 9 — Hoi An and Thu Bon River Boat Trip
Take this day to discover the amazing ancient city of Hoi An, a major trading centre that was known as “Faifo” to the earliest Western traders. An important port for the Dutch, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese and Japanese, Hoi An is incredibly well-preserved and is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit a temple with gilded statues, a pagoda dedicated to fisherman and an 18th century chapel inspired by a blend of Chinese and Japanese styles. Plus, the Sa Huynh Museum contains exhibits from the earliest period of the city’s history. In the late afternoon, you will enjoy a wonderful boat trip on the Thu Bon River to Kim Bong Village to see traditional woodworkers and shipbuilders.
Day 10— Hoi An –Da nang Train to Sai Gon
Morning is free until the ride arrives for your transfer to train station to catch the train to Sai Gon at 13h00. Overnight on train (sharing a four-person cabin)
Day 11 – Sai Gon arrival and city tour of Sai Gon
Pick up on early arrival Sai Gon, transfer to hotel to leave your luggage, free to enjoy breakfast on your own expenses. 8h30 pick up again for morning ½ day city tour of Sai Gon. Back to hotel – free time
Day 12 – Sai Gon
You will have the chance to explore the city of Sai Gon at your leisure. During the booking process you can add a half day Cu Chi tunnel Tour with group tour which will pick you up from the hotel (at 08:30) to Cu Chi the tunnel system stretched over 250km. from Saigon to the Cambodian border and was three levels deep. The network included innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers and kitchens. Today the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction giving the visitor a unique experience and a feel of what underground life in the American war must have been like. The tunnels have been widened for our benefit (otherwise we would not be able to enter them!) For those interested there’s even the opportunity to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range. Back to overnight in Sai Gon
Day 13 – Sai Gon
This day can be added a full day to The Mekong Delta, the southernmost region of Vietnam. It is often referred to as the rice bowl of Vietnam as it produces three harvests per year. The fertile Mekong Delta is also famous for its tropical fruits and flowers. The Delta area marks the end of a 4,500km journey made by the Mekong River after having traveled through six countries. Traditional transportation in the Delta is by boat along a vast network of canals and channels. 8:00-8:30: Pick up at your hotel.
Day 14 – Sai Gon departure
After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy your last minutes shopping in town then you will be taken to the airport where you will catch your flight home. End tour
